One of the largest dragons I've ever made, based on a character that was my muse through most of high school and college.

The creative process that lead to "Old Growth" started in the aftermath of a house fire. While no one had been hurt, the smoke damage had made most of the house uninhabitable and most of the items inside useless.  At the time the only bright spot had been the rack of antlers I got out of the ordeal that I never would have been able to afford otherwise.

However as the years went on we started spending more time with my aunt (who had been living in the house at the time) and her daughter, which partially inspired me create this piece.

The title "Old Growth" is a reference to the fact that giant sequoias (some of the largest and oldest trees in the world) need fire to reproduce, which I felt meshed with the overall theme of the cycle of life, death, and regrowth pretty well even if it does come off as a bit confusing.

This about hipsters, the fact that I kind of look like a hipster, and how hipster culture is slowly become mainstream. It's part of a four part series of hipster rodents.
